Smiley Saturday

Smiley Saturday is brought is you by Lightening Online

If you want to do a Smiley Saturday, here’s how: Smiley Saturday

So a few of the things that brought a smile to my face and my heart this week:

  • Celtic Lad ~ My son the composer. He is currently writing a manuscript. I taught him to read music and until we had to get rid of the piano, he taught himself to play. We will be getting a new one in the next month or two (an electronic keyboard piano) and he is scribbling away furiously and stopping then humming away to himself and writing furiously. My little Beethoven.
  • Celtic Lad ~ he taught me the meaning of determination this week. We were at swimming lessons on Wednesday and I was doing some lengths. He asked to join me. I would do 2 with him and have him sit on the edge while I did two. He was grumpy about this. I explained I was giving him as rest, so he didn’t get into difficulty. He told me he didn’t want to rest and kept up with me for the next 8 lengths. I see in him a real determination when he puts his mind to it. I get so proud of him, it brings tears to my eyes.
  • Celtic Lad & Celtic Shamrock ~ When we were at the Museum, there is a part where we can go ‘digging’ for dinosaur bones. After we unearthed the dinosaur skeleton, we started burying each other. CL informed me that the Aztecs would bury their mummies alive. He then looked at me and said “But I won’t do that to you because we are not Aztecs.” Thank God !!! CS added “No, we’re Irish and Irish people don’t bury their Mummies.” No son, we just kneecap ‘em.
  • Celtic Lad & Celtic Shamrock ~ On the way home from the Museum CL excitedly said “You know what I feel like ?? Like we are the favourite pupils and the teacher took us on a special field trip. ” CS added, “Yes, you know what Mum, I am going to love you forever and ever, even when I am dead, I will never stop loving you.”
  • WGO ~ I took her to the toilet and said”WGO go wees.” She stood on the step, pushed her pelvis forward and tried to pee like the boys !!! I said “What are you doing.” She replied ” I go wees.” No darling, it’s better when we sit.
  • Mr Shamrock ~ At his extreme happiness at being able to walk around carefree in his undies, now that Teen Shamrock has moved out and the kids are in bed. He’s like a kid in a candy store. SUCH BLISS !!!!!
  • Scrappy Do ~ She has been ringing me and keeping an eye on me this week. After writing about Finbar, she rang, concerned it may have put me in a low. SO NICE to know friends care.

So here are just a few of the things that gave me reason to smile. I hope they brought a smile to you fellow bloggers too.

  1. I love your children. :)

Damn, if I had half their determination…

My museum visits when I was a kid were nowhere near that entertaining. Lucky little buggers.

I enjoyed reading the ‘cleaned up’ version of WGO going wee. It’s nearly as funny as the full on recount.

Yeah, Scrappy Do is a good one. Friends like her don’t come along every day.

  2. Your kids are awesome. But now I want to hear the ‘full version’ of the wee story!

On Smiley Saturday? I just watched the movie “50 First Dates”, for about the 50th time. It always makes me smile. And cry a little…

  3. This is Beautiful ♥
Your children sound like little charmers – I mean it and funny.
I need to hear the full story too … for good practice
I have to read Finbar’s story …(hugs) I just saw it – didn’t see it in my feedburner .

Yes, the ‘FULL’ wee story as told to Bettina and Anja:

    HAVE to share the funny…….

Just took Saoirse to the toilet.

    I said “Saoirse go wees.”

She stood up on the step, opened her fanny and stood like the boys.

I said, ‘What are you doing?’

‘I go wees’ was her reply.
