Bless me Bettina for I screwed up….. lol

Yep, it’s Screw Up Tuesday, the day where you can acknowledge those ‘oops’ moments and have a giggle.

I have found I have become alot more relaxed about my oops moments since doing Screw Up Tuesday. So many of life’s oops moments are so minor, they ain’t worth the energy we put into sweating and berating ourselves over them.

So stop beating yourself up and have a laugh.

So this week, there have been many, minor moments.

First of course, the mouse.

We have a morning routine list. On the list is, ‘Feed the animals.’ The boys have religiously been feeding the mice……… but not giving them water. I am thinking the only time they have been getting water is when I give it to them, when I help clean the cage.

Hence, the mice were dehydrated. I am pleased to say that Sera came back from the brink of death, thanks to my efforts on Friday. However, sadly, Minnie didn’t. (Screw Up Number one) So I asked Mr S to find Minnie while I was away.

Saturday morning, I recevied a text ‘Operation Minnie Completed.’ Thank you Mr S. I was talking to him later, and found out that Minnie had lost her uterus and grown some balls. That’s ok, thinks I, WGO, being 3, won’t know the difference.

I got home yesterday afternoon, and once we got all the stuff in, said to WGO excitedly, ‘OOO, let’s go see Minnie.’ Mr S gave me ‘the look.’ He leaned over and whispered ‘Minnie 2 is dead.’ HUH???? Apparently, it lasted one day.

Oh dear.

Next screw up would be me not realising that they no longer feed you in national flights and taking a 3 year old on a 2 hour flight at dinner time with no food !!! We had biscuits and lollipops.

She was really good actually. But got off the flight hungry and tired. I made sure on the flight home, we were well stocked with sandwiches, fruit and snack bars.

Next: I lost my invite. So I got to Invercargill with no idea as to what we were doing. THEN, I was told the party was on Sunday (just as well I had booked until Monday) I was texting my sisters and ringing my Uncle. Finally found out the party was Saturday.

But wait, there’s more.  I forgot my meds !!! I thought 3 days would be ok, but no, by Saturday afternoon, my head was ready to explode !!! I rang Mr S, and he reminded me that some of my family are medicated and might be on the same meds as me.  Mum is, but hers was where she was staying. When I talked to Mr S’s Aunt (whose house I stayed in) SHE had been on the same meds and still had them. So I used hers.

At the party, I was with Mr S’s grandmother. I was told she is hard of hearing, so was talking VERY loud. She went to the loo, and I was joking about the med thing with Mum, and was making jokes and talking as if we were making a drug deal. (Doesn’t sound as funny as it actually was) I made a joke and Mum looked at me, and said ‘Can you say it a bit louder? There’s a man in China who didn’t quite hear you.’ I was just about yelling at everyone !!!!

Not my screw up, but a real funny. My great Uncle M, (GUM) who has never met me, saw me from a distance, and said to his wife “Oh, there’s E ” (E is my birth mother’s name) His wife, (whose eyesight is a damn sight better) said, “No, it isn’t, she is too young to be E.” GUM was sure I was my mother, lol. I was introduced to him and he spent the whole afternoon grinning from ear to ear whenever he looked at me.

A common theme around the family was me being mistaken for my mother. Even my Aunt, when I walked into a room and said hello, called out ‘E’s here!’ She then turned around, saw me, and said ‘Bloody hell, I thought it was E. You sound just like her.’ lol.
