Smiley Saturday

Aaahhhh, it’s the weekend, now there already is something for me to smile about.

You know the drill people….. If you don’t, here’s how to do your very own Smiley Saturday.

Smiley Saturday was thought up by Lightening. Pop over and see why she is smiling this week.

So, yes, firstly, IT’S THE WEEKEND.

This is the last weekend of Gang Show practice. The curtains lift on Monday night and I will be there !!! I am also going on Friday night with Mr S and friends. It has been wonderful to see Celtic Lad as he walks around home, doing all these little foot moves and dance steps. He has been under his Ipod singing the songs since Day one. He has worked so hard and been committed. The Gang Show is more than just a perfromance. It teaches good strong life skills, about team work, dedication, sacrifice. Celtic Lad is 10 and I feel has really grown through this opportunity. I am so smiley smiley that he has had the opportunity. We only had 2 minor meltdowns at the beginning as he got his head around the new routine and came to grips with what was involved. The cast and crew have looked after him wonderfully. There is a real closeness that is formed between everyone.

Celtic Dingo is really amazing me with his sudden burst of maturity. He has never had any concept of actions and consequences. He has not really made any connection between what we do in homschooling in regards to applying to life skills. This week, he has shown me HEAPS !!!!! of times that what we are doing has some relavance. I am so pleased to see this huge leap forward.

WGO is another thing to smile about. She is copying her brothers with homeschooling and wants to do what they do.  She has been watching some Montesorri DVDs I have for learning Letters/making words. When the boys do spelling, she gets her notebook and holds her pencil at the ready and says: ‘Ready for spelling Mummy.’ It is just the cutest. And now she is learning letters, she will make small lines and circles and calls out random letters and say it spells something. Yesterday, we were taking turns at writing words, and she spelt ” O R T E N T” DADDY !!!!! Each letter, she made a pencil stroke. It is just gorgeous !!!!

I made this purchase yesterday. It looks so cool and comes with a website. I am looking forward to working through it.

Going to donate the knitting at the hospital. Even though it is emotional for me, and I guess it always will be, it feels good to be honouring my son and his memory by doing this.

Celtic Lad enjoyed his speech exam. We practices and he is so earnest. I am sure he will do well. This was his 2nd speech exam.

Mr S, never fails to bring a smile to my face. This week, I sent him to swimming with the boys with instructions to pay for their lessons.  You saw the result here. Oh, and he forgot to pay for the swimming lessons !!!! However, when I told the girls in the office, (They have known us now for about 5 years) they found it hilarious !!!!!!

Teen Shamrock has had an issue she is dealing with. When we talked things through, it struck me at how she has boundaries and sticks to them. While it has been painful for her, she is standing by what she believes. When we talked about things and the stance she is taking, she acknowledged that I was a good Mum. It was a very special moment and while I appreciated the kudos, I did suggest that she has learnt from me what NOT to do… lol. We had a laugh about it all. I am so proud of the young woman she is becoming.

I have organised the Celtic boys to start tennis lessons in the 4th term. They are dead keen. The place I am taking them to is only charging $24 for the two of them for 4 weeks. That is a mere $3 per session. AND they provide all the equipment.  A great score!!! And it is straight after speech on a Wednesday afternoon, so we still have 2 days free.

Very smiley about the two new CDs I have bought. Lots of head banging and air guitar going on while no one is home. (I like my music loud)

Mr S bought himself 2 new work shirts and looks very very handsome in them. ;) He also bought himself the TV series of Black Books and we have been watching them and having a laugh.

This blog entry. I love this woman’s way with words.

And Marita. This chick blows me away a widdle. She has had more than just a few challenges thrown her way, and in spite of it, she turns it into something fun.

Quote of the week came from Mistress Bettina, upon finding out Anja’s new job said “Dead people can’t give you crap.” I think it is possibly one of those moments where you had to be there.

So that’s me for this week, just a small window of things that have given me smile this week.

Have a good weekend.
