Musings ~ Bliss

So it was another weekend ‘working the land.’

Finishing the bits that weren’t done the previous weekend.

It was an awesome day as far as Saturdays go. Sunny, but windy. Celtic Lad was at his Gang Show Practice, so Mr S, Celtic DIngo, WGO and I donned on our gumboots and headed out outside.

WGO was in charge, lol.

Yes, this is what Mr S looks like with his clothes on. WGO, walked around saying ‘Put a nail here Daddy’ and organising him, lol.  She had a mini shovel and did digging with me.

I got to play with a new toy:

A new air rifle !!!!!! (No license required)

We opened the back doors and blasted some music. Celtic Dingo wore ear muffs to drown out the noise. So it was win ~ win really.

Mr S and I discussed plans and further developments needed. ONCE. THESE. PROJECTS. ARE. FINISHED.

Then Sunday morning was the total total Opposite. Windy windy windy ending in rain. There was still stuff to finish off so Mr S donned on a jacket and headed outside while I polyurethaned the kitchen bench and a couple of cupboards. I bandied between the kitchen and when the fumes got too much (even in a huge open area, they were pretty strong) I plonked myself in front of the fire. Mr S cut up a pile of gorse for burning. First the goats eat the flowers and leaves, then we cut out the wood, let it dry and then burn it.

It rained so hard that water got into the water pump and overloaded the fuse box. So a small part of Sunday evening was spent in front of a blazing fire, with candles. Another project for Mr S.

There is something pure and magic and blissful about being outside with the animals and kids (of the human variety) I was digging and every time I would pause I would look up and see:

Ah Bliss !!!! I just can not describe how looking around for a few moments, how this world seems to melt away. My God speaks to me. (And no, the meds don’t need increasing, lol)  I mused on the beauty and splendor that surrounds me. I love connecting with creation around me. As I gazed in awe and wonder and gratitude, it struck me how it wasn’t that long ago I was in a church that really gave me the feeling that you connected with God between 10am and 12 noon on a Sunday morning. That he only spoke through those who spoke in toungues and Words of Knowledge. I remembered the hurt and disappointment I felt when I found out one of the pastor’s wives would go to prayer meetings to find out the gossip and then stand in church on a Sunday morning proclaiming ‘Thus sayeth the Lord’ You never messed with anything that started with ‘Thus sayeth the Lord’ Not unless you wanted to have your innards smited by the Lord himself.

To acknowledge the profound impact that walking through a forest or sitting and watching the waves crash on a beach had on me, the reality of a power greater than myself was a bit of a no no. When I expressed that sentiment, I was laughed at (in a nice way, Praise the Lord.) It just didn’t ‘fit the box.’ The box we were always told never to put God into.

But I digress.

Tir na NOg. My heart is here, my soul is here. This is my sanctuary, my safe place. Here is where I run to the top of our hill, throw out my arms, pretend I am Julie Andrews and sing “The Hills are alive with the sound of music.” Though I do prefer Ewan McGregor’s version from Moulin Rouge.

In between all this, conversations with ‘teh’ coven that were really supportive and funny. Poor Mr S has been subjected to “Well, I think …. and the girls agree” I think Mr S thinks he is married to 5 women.Oh well, the idea of a harem has always appealed.

So another wonderful weekend that has been and gone.
