Smiley Saturday

Lots to smile about this week:

Tuesday: We had a power outage. Why am I smiling ? Because I had got up and worked myself up with everything that needed doing, and the power outage meant most of it I couldn’t do. It was beyond my control, which of course means it is not my fault. So I got to relax, and just do what needed to be done, one thing at a time. And guess what? The stuff I didn’t get to do, didn’t bring about the end of civilisation as we know it. I got to ice my son’s cake wearing a head lamp. It was FUNNY !!!!! I also did a couple of widdle jobs that I had been meaning to do for a while. It was good to get them out of the way.

Me icing the cake

We also went to Plunket for WGO. (A routine Health check for those who do not have Plunket) The Nurse was just TAKEN with her and kept trying to HUG her. She kept beaming and saying how delightful she is, and to enjoy it, as once she gets to school, it all changes. (Hm, maybe I should homeschool her?) She had a sight test and immediately could match the ’shapes’ (Letters) The nurse was very impressed with her and moreso when she asked if WGO could count to 3, and I replied that she counts to 10 and sometimes can get to 14. (11-14 is a bit shaky) As a mother, of course I think my children are the bees knees, (don’t get me gushing) but it always makes me smile when I see other people appreciate who they are.

Celtic Lad has taken it upon himself to teach WGO the alphabet. She already ‘writes’ (circles and lines) and gives them letter names to form a word. Celtic Lad had her up at the blackboard writing A, B and C. He is so encouraging. It was funny to listen to him as he taught her.

Wednesday : Celtic Dingo’s birthday and it couldn’t have gone any better !!! He was thrilled to bits with the day and just beamed. He is still beaming. Everyone got on well. It was fab. It just warms the cockles of my widdle heart to see him this happy.

Thursday: I am smiling because I got sick to death of these hormones knocking me around and decided to use the energy into something constructive. So I went on a rampage and Mummy cleaned. I did the lounge and the homeschooling area. I ached all over when I had finished but it was a good tired. The kids helped. Then I got to show the boys ‘Space Invaders’ on the PlayStation. It was great.

Friday: A knock at the door from a contractor to tell us that the power would be disconnected so they could do maintanence which in the long term, could eliminate the number of power outages we get. I smiled at him and said, ‘Another blessing in disguise.’ When I go on a Mummy clean rampage, I can get a widdle manic, so I felt this was the Creator’s way of keeping things in balance for me. So I got to sit down and play with the kids. We all had so much fun. Once the power got back on, I attacked the HUGE pile of washing and ironing, and got at least 2/3 through. The rest will be done today.

I am smiling because I finish my course of hormones on Monday. Once I realised what was going on with me, and named Alfred, I felt alot better. I have been talking with Alfred who kept trying to growl, but with self talk, meditation, support of friends,  and the strength of one who is greater than me, I was able to keep things on an even keel.  THIS TOO SHALL PASS!!!! And MAN, will I be smiling when this passes.

So that is from me for this week. A wonderful week of smiley moments.

Pop on over to Lightening to see other Smiley Saturday participants.

OR if you want to take part yourself, here’s how.

  1. OK, when you’re done you could pop across the ditch and do my ironing, too :P
That’s been a BUSY but great week for you, WS :D

  2. I’m exhausted after reading that.

  3. I have some washing that needs doing too……………………

    ;) lol

  4. That’s a nice week you’ve had.

  5. That photo is a classic! And the view out your window is lovely. I see a fence…

Sometimes the power out is a good thing. Last time our power went out we all went outside (it was cooler than the house) and sang songs!

  6. We are waiting for the power to go out to see how our granddaughter reacts. She is four and it has went out for a minute or two and she tries to turn the lights back on.
But there is so much fun with the power out(as long as it is not too long)

  7. That must be very romantic working with a head lamp, lol ! We were out of water for 4 h, that was quite funny too.

  8. Can I have some of your hormoneses pleeeeeeeeeeze??? My house looks like I started full time work two weeks ago and nobody has picked up anything since then. Which is true…

The Bloke has kept up with the washing, the feeding of the family (although that’s going to stop soon unless I get to the shops that sell food) and has created a delightful veggie patch from scraps of wood, metal and assorted stuff around the back yard. This had the added bonus of tidying the back yard – BUT as for picking up after themselves… Well, less said about *that* the better. And as for actual cleaning… pfft.

  9. Nikki – glad you had such a good week and lots of reasons to smile – did you see Finbar’s name written in the sand too ?

May God grant you peace and strength during this time and continue to carry you through this difficult journey – yes I love the saying this ,too will pass… hope it’s quick.

  10. What a lovely week – or at least a lovely way to view your week. :) And very ingenious icing the cake with a head-light like that. Something to remember.

Hope everything settles soon with your hormones but wonderful that you’ve been able to put some of that energy to good use. I desperately want to get stuck into my house too (trust me to have the motivation when my head is so woozy I can’t bend down!!!)
