Staring at the Embers

It has been so cold.

We have wood in and have had the fire going.

There is something so snuggly about seeing it pissing down with rain outside and be so toastie warm inside.

We had the fire going overnight.

It was so nice to get up to a warm house this morning.

As there is a Finn song for every occassion, as I was throwing a log on the fire, I thought of this song from Tim’s first solo album called Escapade.  It is an 80’s song (but the 80’s rocked, so it’s still cool) I don’t really get the video, but it’s Tim, I don’t have to.

Hope everyone in the Southern Hemisphere stays warm. And here’s to no flus and colds !!!!!!

  1. Oh man, cold in May is just plain WRONG.

  2. Ohhh, I love snuggling under the doona and listening to the rain, or curled up on the couch with a good book, heater on and bucketing weather outside.
No flu’s here, didn’t request Coughing Pig Death for Mother’s Day :P

    • lol, let’s hope we all stay well this winter.

  3. I guess I don’t have a clue as to where you live. I was thinking maybe Ireland but now I’m thinking no to that.

It’s too warm here for fires plus since we moved we have no fireplace.

We do have an outdoor chiminea which I like to fire up on a summer evening.

I’m going to miss the fireplace this winter.

    • I live in New Zealand.

I think my name gives the impression that I am in Ireland and I even had an online friend who knew I lived in New Zealand, but assumed I would have an Irish accent. I don’t. I have a real kiwi one.

No fireplace? So do you have indoor heating?

  4. No flu here. Although the copious vomiting of the flatmate is a bit hard to handle.

    • Glad you are well.

      How bad is the vomiting?

  5. oh! Anja, does copious vomiting = good news?

  6. There’s nothing better than being snug inside while the weather rages outside, is there?

    • I LOVE sitting in front of the fire and seeing the rain pelting aginst the windows.

      Sheer bliss !!!!

  7. ooh I would love a proper fire…as opposed to the electric one which shorts out or electrical circuits regularly!!

Hope you are warm and snuggly

    • Thank you. Since posting, our fire has had to be put out….. so am almost sitting on a heater.

  8. I miss my fire, but this house is definitely warm and snuggly!

    • I might have to save up and come visit again. I envy the purple curtains.
