Celtic Dingo is 10 today.
Double Digits. It’s a big deal when you turn double digits.
Toogie was born 15 months after the twins. After losing Finbar, he was a welcome addition, not given to replace Finbar, no one can ever do that, but to bring joy to our family. On a day like today, I always think “God’s promise.” We had a prophecy in which God promised us this wee one. A great hope for us, not only as it addressed Finbar’s death, but also because I was medically infertile, so we just didn’t know if or when we would conceive again.
Toogs never cried as a baby, he SCREAMED !!!! Red faced screaming. He slept for no longer than 20 minutes at a time during the day and would wake up SCREAMING. He was a full on, high energy lad. He never walked, he RAN!! He definately kept us on our toes !!! He got his nickname from the fact he was always on the move.
“Master Toogie, he loves to boogie” was the catch phrase. He knew no fear. He just did things. He has always been a hands on lad, building things. Or should I say taking things apart. A couple of years ago, we bought him a proper mini tool kit. He unscrewed just about every screw in the house that was holding things together.
Why? Because he could and because he wanted to see what would happen.
He had an almighty swinging arm from the moment he would run (not walk, because he NEVER walked) It does not surprise me that he enjoys golf.
For all his full on in your face behaviour, Toogie was the one who if there was one biscuit on the plate and it seemed there would be no more, he would give it to you. Beneath all this excess energy was a pure and sensitive spirit, intensely passionate about what was right and what was wrong. (He still is)
It’s taken a while, but Toogie has come into his own now. As I sit here and think about what he has been into, it’s the same as it has been from the start. Drums, golf and building stuff. He loved it as a toddler and he loves it now as a newly double digited pre teen.

Ten years ago he looked like this !!!

Celtic Dingo (left) has always been a fun brother and brings
so much laughter to the house (and assorted other loud noises)

Christmas 2002 saw Master 3 get his first drums, the first of 3.

And he’s still full of rythm and noise !!!
Happy Birthday son.
I am off to get dressed now and take the kids to MacDonald’s for breakfast.
